  • Cater-2-U Home Health Care Services Turns Connections into Immediate Hiring Success

Cater-2-U Home Health Care Services Turns Connections into Immediate Hiring Success

Through participation in a Healthcare Job Fair hosted by Workforce Solutions Capital Area, Cater-2-U Home Health Services successfully connected with qualified candidates and met immediate hiring needs. The event provided a platform for the employer to engage directly with job seekers, streamline recruitment, and identify talent aligned with their service model.

Cater-2-U’s strong engagement and readiness to hire resulted in immediate outcomes, demonstrating the value of in-person hiring events in today’s competitive healthcare labor market.

Like many healthcare providers, Cater-2-U faces ongoing challenges in recruiting qualified staff to support growing service demands. Traditional hiring methods can be time-consuming, often delaying the onboarding of critical roles needed to maintain high-quality care.

To overcome these challenges, Cater-2-U participated in a targeted hiring event designed to accelerate recruitment and connect with job ready candidates in a single setting.

Cater-2-U Health Services leveraged the Healthcare Job Fair to meet candidates face-to-face, conduce really time interviews, on the spot background checks, and assess qualifications efficiently. With support from Workforce Solutions Capital Area’s Business Services team, the employer had access to diverse pool of prepared job seekers, many of whom were aligned with healthcare roles and actively seeking employment.

“The job fair was highly successful, with a strong pool of candidates who brought experience across a variety of areas. The event was well organized and effectively accommodated all participating companies,” Eddie Stamps, CEO of Cater-2-U Home Health Care Services, said.

A coordinated effort across Workforce Solutions teams, including Business Services and Career Services, helped ensure candidates were informed, prepared, and ready to engage with employers, creating an environment conducive to immediate hiring decisions.

Cater-2-U Health Services achieved significant results during the event. Five candidates were hired on the spot, the employer connected with a strong pipeline of additional qualified candidates, and immediate hiring needs were addressed, reducing time-to-fill for critical roles. These outcomes highlight the effectiveness of direct engagement between employers and job seekers, all allowing Cater2U to quickly identify and secure talent.

“From a hiring perspective, we were able to connect with several qualified candidates and successfully hired five individuals from the event,” Stamps said.

Cater-2-U’s success at the Healthcare Job Fair demonstrates how strategic hiring events can deliver immediate results. By participating in a coordinated workforce initiative, the employer was able to accelerate hiring, reduce recruitment timelines, and build a strong talent pipeline.

This success reinforces the value of Workforce Solutions Capital Area’s services for local employers in supporting healthcare providers and connecting job seekers to meaningful employment opportunities turning connections into careers in real time.

“It Was a Game Changer” | Beth on Partnering to Solve the Nursing Shortage

Beth Vaughn of St. David’s HealthCare shares how partnering with Workforce Solutions Capital Area is helping address one of healthcare’s most pressing national challenges: a shortage of qualified workers across critical roles.

Through collaborative efforts like the Central Texas Healthcare Partnership, Beth and other employers are strengthening clinical rotation access, improving student engagement, and increasing the number of local nursing graduates — from around 600 in 2019 to nearly 1,300 in 2024.

“Coming together has made the difference in creating a stable pipeline here in Austin.”

This is what happens when community, education, and industry align for long-term impact — and lead by example.

  • Connecting Local Talent with Opportunity: Mobility & Infrastructure Hiring Event Build Your Future

Connecting Local Talent with Opportunity: Mobility & Infrastructure Hiring Event Build Your Future

Workforce Solutions Capital Area (WFS) recently hosted a successful hiring event for the growing Mobility and Infrastructure sector, bringing together 17 employers and 432 enthusiastic attendees. The event connected local talent with exciting career opportunities, helping job seekers meet recruiters, explore career paths, and apply for roles.

Why it matters: Many employers found qualified candidates for both entry-level and specialized positions, with some offering interviews on the spot. More than just filling positions, the event fostered meaningful connections, provided valuable career advice, and highlighted the need for skilled workers in our community.

The United States Postal Service, along with many other organizations, came together to provide job opportunities for individuals seeking their next career step. Our mission is to connect local talent with local jobs, and this event exemplified that by bringing companies directly to candidates. The goal was to support the community by filling vital positions that contribute to the growth of Austin.

Many of the companies at the event offered roles that are essential to our community. The United States Postal Service, for example, had several positions available, including Lead Automotive Technician, Maintenance Mechanic, Assistant Rural Carrier, Rural Carrier Associate, and City Carrier Assistant. These roles are in high demand to meet the mail processing needs and ensure timely delivery. To effectively serve the community, it’s crucial to have skilled talent to carry out these important tasks.

Partnering with WFS gave local companies access to a diverse pool of talented individuals eager to start their next career. The event created a welcoming atmosphere where recruiters could engage with candidates in a more personal and meaningful way than through a Zoom call. It provided companies with the opportunity to showcase their organizations and connect with potential hires, setting them up for success in filling high-demand roles.

The event opened doors for many individuals in our community. For example:

    • The Travis County Sheriff’s Office found three promising candidates for their Correctional Officer positions, who are now moving forward with required assessments.
    • PeopleReady is currently onboarding several candidates, and the United States Postal Service is still reviewing potential hires, with updates expected soon.

Many attendees learned about the event through the news and were excited to connect not only with USPS, but also with other great local employers. Despite facing challenges in securing their next opportunity, many left the event feeling inspired and hopeful for the future after meaningful conversations with recruiters.

  • Central Texas Healthcare Partnership: Spotlight on Satellite Healthcare

Central Texas Healthcare Partnership: Spotlight on Satellite Healthcare

Workforce Solutions Capital Area (WFS) partners with many local healthcare employers to train and hire the workforce for this key local industry. One of our partners is Satellite Healthcare. Here is how Satellite leverages local talent to grow their workforce.

Satellite Healthcare successfully hired three Dialysis Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) after attending a healthcare industry hiring event hosted by WFS. By leveraging our Talent Pipeline, Satellite Healthcare gained access to a local pool of qualified candidates, filling critical positions while supporting job seekers in the community.

Satellite Healthcare participated in WFS’s healthcare hiring event to address its growing need for qualified Dialysis PCTs. By leveraging local talent, Satellite Healthcare tapped into a pool of talent, streamlining the hiring process, and filling essential roles in patient care.

Satellite Healthcare required skilled Dialysis PCTs to meet the growing demands of its healthcare services. Finding qualified staff for such specialized roles can be challenging, particularly when looking for local talent. The healthcare industry hiring event offers an ideal solution, connecting Satellite Healthcare with skilled candidates ready to contribute to patient care.

Through the partnership with WFS, Satellite Healthcare has accessed a pipeline of qualified candidates via the healthcare industry hiring event through this channel. Workforce Solutions provided a streamlined recruitment process, helping the company efficiently fill the needed positions and to continue delivering quality healthcare services.

Satellite hired three new Dialysis PCTs from the event, directly meeting the company’s immediate staffing needs. This collaboration highlights our ability to support the healthcare sector in building a strong workforce.

Satellite Healthcare is a member of the Central Texas Healthcare Partnership, a workforce development leader in the Central Texas healthcare industry. The partnership was founded in early 2018 under the leadership of three Central Texas healthcare industry leaders: Baylor Scott & White Health, Ascension Seton, and St. David’s HealthCare.

  • How WFS Capital Area Assists MoboTrex in Hiring Their Manufacturing Workforce

How WFS Capital Area Assists MoboTrex in Hiring Their Manufacturing Workforce

MoboTrex is a partner company that found success at two of our recent industry-focused job fairs. These events are an important service that Workforce Solutions Capital Area (WFS) provides on a frequent basis. Last year, our Business Solutions team managed 71 job fairs, attended by 4,421 job seekers. These job seekers are provided with the opportunity to find potential jobs with local employers hiring for immediate openings. In addition to the benefits to job seekers, these fairs can also serve as a place where employers can network with one another to build new relationships.

    The Need

When MoboTrex tabled at a manufacturing-focused job fair in winter 2023, their organization had a process technician opening that had been vacant for more than two months, since finding a qualified candidate for this role can be difficult in a competitive labor market. Process technicians require specific skills to help with implementing corrective actions on production lines, and they are also tasked with improving overall manufacturing processes.

For all Targeted Industry job fairs, WFS’s Business Solutions team conducts targeted outreach. In addition to inviting the general public, the BSU identifies (through Workintexas.com, the Unemployment Insurance Claimant List, and LinkedIn) and invites individuals with experience in the selected industry, knowing they possess the skills necessary for attending employers.

Targeted Industry events are highly desirable to these customers, since they will find multiple employers in that customer’s field of interest, unlike a general job fair, which could have 30 employers, only one of which represents the targeted industry. During a quarterly manufacturing focused job fair at WFS, MoboTrex identified a candidate who had extensive experience in similar manufacturing settings. After speaking to the candidate, MoboTrex quickly acted on scheduling an interview and hired them soon after.

According to MoboTrex, the individual first started as a temporary employee and soon after transitioned into a permanent position after displaying excellent performance. The company advised that training the individual was simple because of the foundational knowledge they brought with them. Additionally, MoboTrex mentioned that the individual’s Spanish speaking ability helped numerous coworkers who were not fluent in English.

“We always look forward to attending the job fairs organized by Workforce Solutions Capital Area,” said Josie Mancilla, Senior Human Resources Generalist.

During a more recent manufacturing job fair in February, MoboTrex once again found success in hiring a job seeker for an assembly position. MoboTrex noted that meeting with potential candidates in-person has been beneficial to having customers gain employment faster. Putting a face to the resume and building an initial rapport moves a candidate higher up on the candidate list.

Another exciting benefit of these industry events is the networking opportunities available to employers. At the same event at which they found their process technician, MoboTrex initiated conversations with other vendors and says that it is a great place to meet new companies.

“We get a chance to meet qualified candidates, understand what skills are out there and gives us a chance to mingle with other companies as well. We enjoy sharing with the participants information about our organization as well as trying to encourage them to continue seeking that job that is out there for them. To never give up. Also, it is a great opportunity to step out of the office for a few hours to see as well as feel a different perspective of what is going on in the job market,” Josie said.

Since our partnership in early 2021, MoboTrex has continuously participated in multiple job fairs and has utilized multiple recruiting services we offer such as posting 25 jobs on WorkinTexas.com that ended up receiving a total of 72 staff-created referrals. MoboTrex is also in the process of potentially creating a subsidized employment opportunity for WFS customers.
