Workforce Solutions Capital Area partners with many local healthcare employers to train and hire the workforce for this key local industry. One of our partners is Concordia University’s nursing program, who joined us for a high school event in June.
Concordia University’s nursing program partnered with St. David’s HealthCare and Workforce Solutions Capital Area to deliver a one-day, free nursing summer camp for high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a career in nursing. The students represented schools from all over Central Texas.
The high school students worked with Concordia nursing faculty and students, and St. David’s HealthCare nurse educators, to gain knowledge about the profession of nursing and learn hands on nursing skills with stop the bleed training, phlebotomy, high fidelity simulation, and virtual reality.
- Providing opportunities for high school students to learn about the nursing profession helps to support the community in increasing the number of nurses.
Concordia University is a member of the Central Texas Healthcare Partnership. The partnership was founded in early 2018 under the leadership of three Central Texas healthcare industry leaders: Baylor Scott & White Health, Ascension Seton, and St. David’s HealthCare.
