The Workforce and Education Readiness Continuum (WERC) is a City of Austin- and Travis County-funded network of community partners linked to help prepare Austin-area residents to enter or reenter today’s competitive job market.

With 38 locations, WERC provides client services ranging from Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) to job readiness instruction and occupational training with the goal of empowering clients with the skills they need to advance their employment opportunities and realize their economic potential.

What can WERC do for me?
WERC participants are eligible to receive a number of education and training services including:
- Job Search Assistance
- Occupational & Job-specific Training
- Resume & Interviewing Workshops

Each partner brings a unique strength to the overall mix. Workforce Solutions Capital Area, in particular, specializes in Workforce Development. Those interested in the WERC program can visit any one of our three convenient Career Centers to receive one-on-one time with a case manager, job search assistance, job readiness instruction, and assistance accessing a variety of employment training options, including college-level courses, occupational certifications and licenses, On-the-Job Training, and more.

Who is Eligible for WERC?
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must be a current resident of the City of Austin and/or Travis County
- Must be at or below 200% of the current federal poverty income guidelines (additional information below)
- Must be able to verify citizenship and/or authorization to work in the U.S. (for workforce development programs only)
Eligible individuals must have an monthly family income less than:
- $2,023 for a family of one
- $2,743 for a family of two
- $3,463 for a family of three
- $4,183 for a family of four
- $4,903 for a family of five
- $5,623 for a family of six
- $6,343 for a family of seven
